Ordinary and The Extra-ordinary

Whenever a species is forced/made to live in an alien habitat, eventually it adapts itself to the atmosphere in which it exists. Birds, for example are free spirits naturally. However when they are caged for life, they are forced to exist that way.

Either the species adapts itself to it's habitat or, it perishes due to unfavorable conditions. Perhaps, that is the reason why whenever we go through challenging situations, we've been taught to compromise often rather than going with a head-on approach. Because being complacent with what it already has can atleast guarantee the species it's life but being rebellious could  mean danger.

As children we've always believed in the 'unbelievable'. Back then, it would feel as though anything and everything is possible. But as we grow up we realize that that's not always the case... Or, is it? That is possibly one of the reasons why we are afraid to chase our dreams...dreams that we once believed were possible .

As we grow up, we start realizing things. We tend to be more 'practical'  rather than being optimistic. We are oblivious to the fact that we are confined by the standards, beliefs, and expectations set up by the society. We've been manipulated, and brainwashed into believing what the society believes as a whole. And we are often faced with this pressure to agree with what the crowd is agreeing in general. And the ones who don't go along with this social conditioning, whose ideas or beliefs are a bit different than others are called 'outcasts'.

Every individual is born devoid of any kind of knowledge/information about the world and the way it functions. It is the atmosphere in which we grow that shapes us and our perception. Both, the greatest heroes and the worst villains ever known are societal byproducts. And they are the people who dared to be different.

Every being in this universe is unique in its own way. Instead of relishing this diversity, the society loves the 'familiar' and anything that doesn't seem familiar, no matter how precious it is, is left to itself to lead  a life filled with misery and dread. And when we look back into history, we find similar stories. All great personalities we've ever know have been through this emotional turmoil and in a way, it is this trauma that made them better than the rest, one in a million.

In our daily lives, many a times, we feel unwelcomed and alone. According to recent reports published by WHO, loneliness has an alarming impact on an individual's health and its a 'growing concern'.

Every one wishes to be loved and to be accepted. But we dont always get what we want. And so we are let down by the people whom we love the most and are made to feel lost and alone. We are called out, picked at, and mocked by people for different or to be more precise 'weird'.

All we need to do is remember the fact that it is only in the darkness that your light can shine. As Alice Walker said, "Be an outcast. Be pleased to walk alone". Being a lone wolf is better than following sheep in the herd.

Nothing extraordinary was ever born out of the ordinary. Being weird is way better than being ordinary. But all one needs to do is embrace it and become one with it. And not everyone can realize the true potential of an outcast but that's alright because at the end of the day it doesn't matter. It may not be easy but it's worth it. It hurts, indubitably, but that's the whole idea of it. Pain is the fuel. Your hurt gets you better.

Darkness elicits light. When the going gets tough, the tough get going. So, keep going. And, as always, the best is yet to come!
